Claudia Deane is the associate director for public opinion and survey research at the Kaiser Family Foundation, where she works on a variety of survey-related projects focused primarily on understanding the public’s views on health policy issues.
Prior to joining the Foundation in the fall of 2006, Deane spent eight years as the assistant director of polling at The Washington Post, responsible for all aspects of conducting and reporting surveys in the news pages. At the Post, where she also served as a staff writer, Deane co-authored a weekly "Ideas Industry" column and co-hosted a regular show on polling on Washington Post Radio.
Deane has also worked as a survey director at the non-partisan Pew Research Center for the People and the Press in Washington DC, and spent several years as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill. She has served on the National Council of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), as well as serving as president of Washington’s AAPOR chapter.
