Date: This Webinar replay, complete with audio, is now available. If you registered in the live version of this Webinar, you are already enrolled in this archived edition. Simply log in at right and click on My Courses in the Welcome box. The original live Webinar was offered April 8, 2008.

Cost: Free. Thanks to the support of our partners -- Associated Press Managing Editors, Reynolds Journalism Institute at Missouri School of Journalism, and The Poynter Institute -- we are able to offer this $29.95 Webinar for free.

What will I learn? When it comes to online credibility, editors and readers agree on the basics, but on specific issues, their opinions differ. Perspectives on anonymous posting, links to advertising and reporters’ personal viewpoints vary widely. These findings and more are outlined in the Online Credibility Gap, a landmark study of more than 1,200 journalists and 500 news consumers.

This Webinar presents the detailed findings from the Online Credibility Gap survey, including:
  • When and how traditional print instincts work against us online
  • What readers do online that we insist we don't want them to do
  • How we fail to make editorial policies and practices clear to online readers
  • How to set expectations of what we offer
Bonus resources include:
  • Discussion forums to exchange ideas and ask question about the report's findings
  • PDFs of the complete Online Credibility Gap report and an executive summary
  • A PDF of the Webinar presentation
The archived edition includes the Webinar presentation as well as bonus tracks and additional resources.
