About Certificate Programs
Certificates of proficiency are designed to measure your knowledge of the industry's essential skills and best practices. To receive a certificate, take the NewsU courses associated with that certificate program and then successfully complete the online assessment for each course. Once you've passed all the assessments, you will receive your certificate from Poynter's NewsU.
A certificate in "Journalism in a Digital World" shows that you have a solid foundation in the essential journalism skills of reporting and writing for an online audience. This certificate is given to students who understand the essential skills and best practices taught in the prescribed seven self-directed training modules.
The courses that make up this certificate were specifically selected to provide a foundation for success in today’s modern journalism world. They were selected to complement the participants’ education and experience by filling in gaps, offering new ideas and sharing best practices from the United States. The courses should be taken in the order in which they are listed, progressing from basic skills through digital media and, finally, to management competencies.
This assessment is available to participants in the Zimbabwe Women Journalists Mentoring Program (2011-2012) sponsored by the U.S. Embassy Harare-Public Affairs Section and the Humanitarian Information Facility Centre.
This Certificate is available until Aug. 31, 2012.
