About Self-Directed Courses

In a self-directed course, you can start and stop whenever you like, progressing entirely at your own pace and going back as many times as you want to review the material.

This course deconstructs four successful online projects that were finalists for the 2003 Online Journalism Awards.
It takes you through the five steps of the multimedia production process for each one in specific detail.
The course also provides a link to the ONA Web site for more resources. At the end of the course you will know how to apply the five steps—plan, report, produce, market, assess—to tell stories in a digital environment.
