Media coverage of the police shootings in Ferguson, Cleveland and Baltimore, plus the high-profile chokehold death of Eric Garner in Staten Island often inflames an already volatile climate between residents and law enforcement across the country.

In this Webinar, we'll walk through some case studies that explore how news coverage can affect the public. We will also help journalists find and cover stories about race in their own communities with context and credibility.

What Will I Learn:
  • Tips for how to hash out issues in the newsroom
  • Approaches for covering sensitive topics
  • How to stop treating race as mainly a “problem story”
  • Case studies of best practices
Who Should Take this Course:

Reporters, editors, producers, students and anyone who wants to honor journalism’s highest values – accuracy, fairness and contextual truth – in covering race.
