MDIA 561: Financial Management. The course is designed to familiarize students with the economic structures and financing of electronic media industries and businesses; and to teach them standard financial practices of those industries. Through readings, class discussion, and case studies, students develop the ability to analyze financial data and address economics and financial issues faced by owners, managers, and workers in the media industries.The course is required for Master's degree students in the School of Media Arts & Studies who elect a Management focus. Most of these students come into the program with limited financial backgrounds. Students from the School of Journalism and the Communication & Development program also sometimes take the class.
